With regards to the process of globalization many people ask the same question over and over again: in which ways will the cultures of the world develop?
Some assume that through the impact of proceeding capitalism and economic power, cultures of humankind will unify to western standards. That would imply the end of cultural variety.
Others speak about the “Clash of Civilizations” –through the break of traditions and the increasing lack of prospects in the chaos of globalization, more and more people relate to fundamentalist groups in order to find meaning and stability in their lives. Positions would be hardening and a dialogue between cultures would be almost impossible.
Trans-culturality draws a different image. The increasing migration and communication on our planet earth leads to a blending of all cultures and to the willingness to learn through the intercultural dialogue. If each culture represents a single delicate string of a certain color they are woven with each other to create one strong carpet full of different colorful patterns. By no means this is a new phenomenon. All existing cultures had been created by the contact and subsequent fusion of customs and knowledge. In short, life implies change and recreation.
All travelers could be understood as a symbol of what science calls “Trans-culturality.” Through experiences gathered in different cultural contexts and by taking them on their continuing path, they inspire people and leave a piece of themselves wherever they go. In the daily process of interaction we are constructing our social reality. Therefore everybody should be conscious of the reality he or she chooses to live and hence reproduce.
For eight years the fruits of arts enabled Rafael to travel around the world. In the last years mainly music paved his way and opened doors to new experiences. Music – the universal language made him become part of this Transculture.
